Save for a few radio-courting choruses, Rachael Yamagata turned in an impressive PJ Harvey-tinged taste of her forthcoming follow-up to 2008’s Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart this week: “Starlight,” a lightly menacing cut off the John Alagia-produced LP, Chesapeake, due out on (Ashes & Fire release date) October 11. Catch the preview above. Meanwhile, here’s hoping for more ballads, like new tune “Deal Breaker” or the last record’s title track.

I remember her from “Did You Get My Message.” This is delightfully different (and by that, I mean mmhhmmm). Very nice.
